What we handle in National Australia Bank statements
Works with NAB Classic Banking and business account statement PDFs with a text layer. Debits and credits are read from their own columns, the leader dots NAB runs between a description and its amount are stripped, particulars wrapped over several lines are rejoined, and Brought forward / Carried forward running totals are recognised as page furniture rather than imported as transactions.
New — NAB support is in beta. We built this from National Australia Bank’s published statement layout and haven’t yet run it against a real customer file, so it may not match every template. The reconciliation check still applies: if a conversion doesn’t balance to the cent, you get a flagged file and a clear message rather than quietly wrong numbers. Send us a statement that fails and we’ll fix it.

National Australia Bank statement quirks — handled automatically
The manual fixes other converters leave to you, done for you and then verified against the statement’s own balances.
Leader dots stripped from amounts
NAB fills the gap between a description and its amount with dots ("Cheques Deposit.....293.66"). Converters that split on whitespace read that as text and lose the amount. We strip the leader and keep the number.
Brought / Carried forward are not transactions
Every NAB page opens and closes with a running total. Import them and your ledger double-counts the whole page. We drop them, and drop the page furniture below them too.
Rate notices inside the table ignored
NAB prints interest-rate notices as dated rows inside the transaction table, with a balance but no amount. Those are notes, not transactions, and they don't reach your CSV.
Multi-line particulars rejoined
NAB particulars run over several lines. We fold them into one description instead of emitting phantom rows.
Accuracy
Every conversion reconciles — or we tell you loudly
For every statement we check that opening balance + all transactions = closing balance, to the cent. If it doesn’t add up — a dropped row, a wrong sign, a duplicated line — the CSV is flagged with a RECONCILIATION FAILED banner on its first line and we refuse to let you import garbage silently.
No “looks about right”. A conversion either proves itself against the statement’s own balances, or it arrives clearly marked as untrustworthy.
Privacy
Files auto-delete after processing
Bank statements are sensitive. Your PDF is processed in memory and temporary storage only, converted, and deleted immediately after the conversion finishes — success or failure. We keep no copy of the statement, no copy of the CSV, and no transaction data.
No human ever reads your statements. There is nothing to leak because nothing is retained.
Coverage
Australian banks first
Built for Australian statements from day one: DD/MM/YYYY dates, debit/credit columns collapsed into correctly signed amounts, and CSV output in the format Xero’s bank statement import actually accepts (a generic format is available too).
Every Australian bank works, as long as the PDF is the one your bank issued rather than a scan or photo of a printout. Five banks have a parser written for their exact layout; the rest go through table detection, which reads your statement’s own column headings. Both paths get checked against the balances your bank printed — see supported banks.
Simple credit packs
One credit converts one statement. No subscription, no sales calls, no demos — buy credits, convert statements, done. The first three statements of every run are free, so you can check our numbers against yours before you pay anything.
