Terms of service

Last updated: 20 August 2026

What the service is

CleanStatements converts Australian bank statement PDFs into CSV files ready for accounting software. CommBank (CBA), ANZ, ING, NAB and Bankwest have dedicated readers; other banks are read by working the statement’s own layout out from the page, and credit card statements are supported too. Scanned statements and photos are not — download the PDF from your online banking. It is operated by Stoop Studios. By using the converter, you agree to these terms.

What it costs

The first three statements of every run are free, and always will be — you can check our numbers against yours before you pay anything. Past three, one credit converts one statement. Credits come in packs (currently $19 for 10 and $49 for 40, in Australian dollars), are bought outright rather than by subscription, and do not expire. There is no recurring charge, and nothing is stored to charge you again later.

Buying credits gives you a licence key. The key is the credit — anyone holding it can spend the balance, so treat it like a password. We store only a one-way hash of your key, so we cannot read it back to you; we can, however, re-issue it from your Stripe receipt if you lose it.

Refunds

A statement we cannot read costs you nothing: failed files are refunded to your balance automatically at the end of each run. A statement we can read consumes a credit even if it comes back flagged — a flagged file is a real answer about your data, and it is the one thing this service exists to tell you.

Beyond that, if the service didn’t do what you expected, email hello@stoopstudios.io and we will refund you. We would rather refund a purchase than argue about one, and we do not require a reason. This is in addition to your rights under the Australian Consumer Law, which nothing here limits.

Accuracy — check before you import

Every conversion runs a cent-exact reconciliation check: the transactions in the CSV must sum to the statement’s opening and closing balances. Files that fail this check are clearly marked DO-NOT-IMPORT.

Even so, you are responsible for reviewing the output before importing it into accounting software or relying on it for any purpose. Automated parsing can make mistakes that reconciliation alone cannot catch (for example, a garbled transaction description). If something looks wrong, don’t import it — tell us instead.

Not financial advice

CleanStatements is a file-format conversion tool. Nothing on this site or in its output is financial, tax, or accounting advice.

Your files

Uploaded PDFs are processed in memory and temporary storage and deleted immediately after the conversion finishes — whether it succeeds or fails. We keep no copy of your statement or the CSV. The details are in our privacy policy, which forms part of these terms. Only upload statements you have the right to process.

Beta service, provided as-is

The service is provided as-is during the beta. It may change, be interrupted, or be paused at any time without notice. To the extent permitted by law (including the Australian Consumer Law, whose consumer guarantees are not excluded where they apply), we aren’t liable for losses arising from your use of the service — which is another reason to review output before importing it.

Acceptable use

Don’t use the service to process documents you aren’t authorised to handle, attempt to disrupt or overload it, or use it for anything unlawful. We may block use that breaks these terms.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of New South Wales, Australia, and disputes are subject to the courts of New South Wales.
